UPPER ROOM BAR

On the first floor of the former military chapel, you can find the Upper Room Bar. Where once the choir resonated, there are now resident DJs filling the room with atmospheric beats.

The Upper Room Bar is a marvellous place in The Jane, where guests take place at the bar and choose bar bites from the à la carte menu in a vibrant, unconventional and musical setting. On Fridays and Saturdays the Upper Room Bar hosts Izakaya Nights as well.

Furthermore, it allows upgrading the restaurant experience, being able to welcome guests with an aperitif or let them reminisce on a great afternoon or night with a coffee or after dinner drink.

Instead of elaborate dining, the Upper Room Bar offers the possibility to try and share small dishes around an inked bar kitchen. The chefs will be happy to dress your à la carte chosen dishes right in front of you.

Due to the height of the bar kitchen, it is less convenient for wheelchair users to dine here. Dogs are not allowed in the bar.

IZAKAYA NIGHTS

“An izakaya (Japanese: [izakaja]) is a type of informal Japanese pub. They are casual places for after-work drinking. They have been compared to Irish pubs, tapas bars and early American saloons and taverns.”

On Fridays and Saturdays you can join us for Izakaya Nights in the Upper Room Bar. From 7 p.m. onwards, you can enjoy various nihonshu, natural wines, craft beers and signature cocktails in an informal setting. The bar bites on the menu are seasonal and inspired on street food and world cuisine.

It is not possible to make a reservation for Izakaya Nights. However, if you would like to ensure a seat at the bar, let us know via upperroombar@thejaneantwerp.com, mentioning the amount of people and estimated time of arrival (7 p.m., 7.30 p.m. or 8.30 p.m.). We have a registration period of two weeks and work on a first come first served basis. If you do not mind enjoying your drinks and bites standing, please, just walk on in.

In addition to our regular Izakaya Nights, some special themes will be hightlighted as well. These will be announced via The Jane's social media channels.

Izakaya Nights will not take place on Friday evening 24 May due to an exclusive event in the Upper Room Bar.
