From the moment they enter until they leave, each guest is immersed in a unique setting and influenced by the food, the drinks, the music, the interior. With about 40 employees, The Jane operates with a business structure that requires overall organization and stability. FRONT OF HOUSE

HIGH LEVEL RESTAURANTMANAGER

In this position you are responsible for everything related to the front of house. You are the point of contact for the team and you ensure an optimal course of service. Communication with the kitchen and guest contact are central to this. During the service you therefore mainly act in the role of host or hostess. In addition, you direct the team and provide the necessary education and training for the employees. You ensure efficient operation and pick up issues that are not going well with the right people. Reservation management is handled by the administrative department, but it is something that you follow closely. Your administrative part of the range of tasks mainly consists of personnel planning, recruitment, orders and possible support with projects.

Your profile:

For this position you must have sufficient technical knowledge to be able to control the front of house. We are therefore looking for someone with professional pride, an eye for detail and a real feeling for hospitality. You can find yourself in the description below:

HOST/HOSTESS

As a host/hostess you ensure the first warm contact with the restaurant guests, you show them the way and you provide a professional point of contact during their visit. You are the most important contact person, since you leave the first and last impression on our guests. Perfect hygiene in the reception area, the right mood by means of candles, music and atmosphere, ... are your responsibility. You work together with a motivated team of hostesses, you are responsible for planning the working hours and drawing up the monthly schedules. You will also manage the extensive online webshop of The Jane.

Your profile:

  • Just graduated or already a first work experience
  • An extremely well-groomed appearance
  • You are by nature a guest-oriented person and you guarantee quality and service of the highest level
  • If you have received training in restaurant management, hotel reception or the like, you will make a strong impression on us
  • You speak Dutch in general and you have knowledge of English and French. Any additional language is of course an asset for our international guests

EXPEDITOR/ANNOUNCER

To provide a unique experience to our guests at The Jane, a Front-of-House team of 14 passionate friends takes care of a professional, yet playful and dynamic service every day. Expeditors make sure the orders are being well timed cooked, so that all orders for a table are ready at the same time and make sure that once the dishes are prepared, servers run food to the table while it's warm and ready. They need an excellent sense of time management, organization, situational awareness, problem solving and unwavering calm despite circumstances.

Your tasks:

  • The use of Annoncer
  • Be a connector between Front of House and the kitchen
  • Directing and leading the service
  • Be aware of what is going on at all times

JUNIOR SOMMELIER

As our junior sommelier you will work closely with our sommelier Trésor Vets and be responsible for various aspects of our ‘The Jane drinks experience’. You will provide a professional, yet playful and dynamic service. You support the entire team and guarantee the unique experience we want to bring our guests.

Your profile:

  • You are a versatile team player and contribute to a good work atmosphere.
  • You have (some) experience as (assistant) sommelier.
  • A sommelier or WSET certificate and/or relevant education (e.g. restaurant management) is a plus.
  • You are well aware that your appearance is a representation of the entire business. Therefore you always present yourself well-groomed.
  • You are guest-oriented and guarantee a qualitative service of the highest level.
  • You support the sommelier with the wine list, original (non-alcoholic) pairings and mixed beverages.
  • You have a thorough knowledge of English. Any additional language is an asset for our international guests. Knowledge of Dutch is not mandatory, but some notion is useful.

SENIOR SOUS CHEF

As our senior sous-chef, you are co-responsible for the daily kitchen operations and organisation under the supervision of Nick Bril. You ensure the quality and freshness of products by organising and checking orders and stock. You assist in preparing dishes and guarantee their quality and consistency by following designated recipes.

Apart from your kitchen specific tasks, you also support the kitchen team by:

  • Managing the kitchen and offering the team a clear structure.
  • Monitoring them during mise-en-place, service, storing and cleaning.
  • Assisting them in their kitchen activities and preparations.
  • Supervising their appearance and personal hygiene.
  • Offering them a safe work environment in compliance with the HACCP-standards.
  • Finally, you will think actively and creatively about new dishes and will have your own responsibilities during service.

Profile:

  • You have finished hotel (management) school.
  • You have at least 2 years’ experience in a similar position.

CHEF DE PARTIE

As chef de partie, you are responsible for your own partie (hot or cold side) in the kitchen. You have a leadership position, but are also part of the overall team. You will be involved in the preparation of dishes on a daily basis. If you are ready for it, Nick and his chefs are always open to creative input. Together, you can make sure you have the most complete experience possible. During your service in the kitchen, you will be responsible for the work in your partie and follow the guidelines of the chef.

Your Responsibilities:

You will take the honors at the reception of the restaurant. As hostess you'll be responisble for the first contact with the restaurant guests, you will show them around and provide a professional yet warm and caring point of contact during their visit.
