Every employee of The Jane is pushed daily to give the best of themselves. Guest service is the key performance indicator for Nick and his team! From the moment they enter until they leave, each guest is immersed in a unique setting and influenced by the food, the drinks, the music, the interior. In short, we strive to give each guest an experience they won't soon forget.

With about 40 employees, The Jane operates with a business structure that requires overall organization and stability. This isn't always obvious, specially since we require the absolute best from our whole team. A high level of service and an intense work pace are essential to reach our general objectives and push The Jane to the next level.

FRONT OF HOUSE

HEAD SOMMELIER

As a sommelier, a true wine lover, you keep a close eye on all developments in the culinary world, read professional literature, and are aware of current trends. Thinking outside the box and working as innovatively and creatively as possible is your strength. You work well independently but are also a team player who enjoys sharing knowledge with the rest of the beverage team. Continuously seeking growth and development is important to you.

Tasks:

  • Contribute to an ultimate culinary experience at The Jane;
  • Sensing guests' needs regarding the overall experience at the restaurant;
  • Informing guests in a discreet and informal manner regarding wine and food;
  • Managing the wine cellar, including purchasing, stock management and quality control (in agreement with Nick);
  • You will be responsible for compiling and managing our wine list and all aspects of our 'beverage experience' at The Jane & untitled. This includes the wines, cocktails and beers, as well as curating the non-alcoholic beverages and hot drinks;    
  • Supervising and coaching the beverage team to optimise wine and beverage knowledge;
  • Mise en place of the wine service in the restaurant together with our beverage team;
  • Being creative, proposing ideas and being able to realise them yourself;
  • Being part of a dynamic team;

Your Profile:

  • A sommelier or WSET certificate and/or relevant training (e.g. restaurant management) is a must
  • Experience in a higher-end restaurant is a plus
  • You are guest-oriented and guarantee a qualitative service of the highest level
  • You are aware of the current trends within the culinary world
  • You want to continue to develop yourself and get the best out of yourself
  • You have a thorough knowledge of English. Every additional language is an asset for our international guests
  • You are a team player with a flexible attitude who strives for a pleasant working atmosphere.

CHEF DE RANG

To provide a unique experience to our guests at The Jane, a Front-of-House team passionate colleagues takes care of a professional, yet playful and dynamic service every day. We are looking for new team players to strengthen our first class team and uphold our high level service and experience. At The Jane Antwerp, we offer the opportunity to put your experience to use and share it with others. Because of the size of our team you get the opportunity to choose for an all-round function or to focus on a certain aspect within the restaurant. You will be given responsibility for your own section and together with your team members you'll ensure that the service runs smoothly.

Your profile:

  • An extremely well-groomed appearance

  • With some experience in a similar function

KITCHEN

PASTRY CHEF DE PARTIE

Will The Jane's next dessert creation be yours?

Your Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with Nick Bril and our pastry head chef, creating and developing of the pastry department.
  • Provide and prepare desserts, pastries, ice cream, cakes, mignardises,... for lunch and dinner
  • Mise en place
  • Managing and cleaning the kitchen equipment
  • Compliance with safety and HACCP in the kitchen
  • Working closely with colleagues in the kitchen and dining room
  • Continuously innovate and strive for the perfect service for the guests
     

Your profile:

CHEF DE PARTIE

As chef de partie, you are responsible for your own partie (hot or cold side) in the kitchen. You have a leadership position, but are also part of the overall team. You will be involved in the preparation of dishes on a daily basis. If you are ready for it, Nick and his chefs are always open to creative input. Together, you can make sure you have the most complete experience possible. During your service in the kitchen, you will be responsible for the work in your partie and follow the guidelines of the chef.

Your responsibilities:

  • Work closely with colleagues in the kitchen and front of house
  • Preparing dishes for lunch and dinner
  • Mise en place

KITCHEN & FRONT OF HOUSE

You will gain work experience within a challenging, motivating and dynamic learning environment. You will assist the team in carrying out their tasks in a supportive manner and provide extra service to the guests.

KITCHEN

Within our restaurant's training programme, you will receive training that shapes and prepares you for a future within the restaurant sector. You will be fully included in the team and have the opportunity to gain many impressions in a short period of time. You will work with a wide range of products using various techniques and learn to work together in a large team of driven chefs.

FRONT OF HOUSE

Within your internship period, you will learn all aspects of Front of House with us. We offer you a wide range of tasks in which you will have the opportunity to grow both personally and professionally. You will work on your organisational skills, order, tidiness, precision and guest-oriented thinking. A team of young professionals will guide you and ensure continuous monitoring of your (learning) path.

You will assist the chefs de rang in the performance of their duties. Supporting the team and providing extra service to guests.

Your profile:

  • Recently graduated or already a first work experience

HOST/HOSTESS

Your Responsibilities:

You will take the honors at the reception of the restaurant. As hostess you'll be responsible for the first contact with the restaurant guests, you will show them around and provide a professional yet warm and caring point of contact during their visit. You are the most important contact person, since you're the first and last one to leave an impression on our guests. A perfect hygiene of the reception area, the right atmosphere through candles, music, temperature, ... are your responsibility.

  • Living in the area
